Honest Doubt
Mosaic family,
There is a human tendency to doubt the miraculous. In fact, many of the closest friends of Jesus Himself possessed a level of doubt concerning His resurrection. Thomas kind of gets the moniker of being Doubting Thomas, but the truth of the matter is that doubt permeated the initial response of many. Jesus had a very compassionate approach in response to Thomas' doubt, but at the same time urged him, "Stop doubting and believe."
Honest doubt leaves room for Jesus to show up. Honest doubt says I'm uncertain, I'm unclear about all this. It all seems a bit unbelievable, but I'm willing to let Jesus be merciful and compassionate to me. But let's be perfectly clear, doubt—even honest doubt—is not faith. Jesus told Thomas that he needed to move from doubt to belief.
We will explore this and so much more this Sunday as we celebrate our Risen King!
To the King and For the Kingdom,
