Meet the Team
Rick & his wife Mimi have been married 36 years and have 3 adult children, Levi, Leah, & Anna. Rick enjoys reading, snow, and a fresh cup of coffee; preferably all at the same time.
Rick found Jesus, his wife Mimi, and his calling as a pastor while living in Las Vegas in the early 80’s. "Where sin abounds, grace abounds much more."
Rick is the founding pastor of Mosaic, as well as the Founder of a Para-church ministry for at-risk youth called Straight Street.
Rick’s passion is to help hurting people find healing in the loving arms of Jesus. Rick is not impressed with posers (used to be one) or people who use a lot of “Christianese.” He is, however, impressed with people who want to live an authentic Christian life, even if it gets messy from time to time.
Anyone that knows Mimi knows that she has a passion for healthy living through good nutrition. She also has a tremendous passion to see women be healthy emotionally and spiritually. Mimi believes that no matter what circumstances today’s woman finds herself in, she can live loved and live free by believing what God’s Word says about her.
Mimi leads the women’s ministry called The Gathering, heads up the Mosaic Café, and serves as the church administrator.
Ron and Annik have been married since 1984 and have three adult children, Amanda, Briana, and Colin. Ron is the Associate Dean and Assistant Professor of Government with the Helms School of Government at Liberty University. In addition to writing, reading, and politics, Ron also enjoys watching sci-fi or superhero movies and television shows, and college and pro football, particularly the Washington Redskins, the main reason we asked him to be an Elder! :)
"I believe my life experiences, spiritual gifts, and temperament have oriented me toward Jesus' goal 'that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you' (John 17:21). Jesus prayed to the Father that his disciples would achieve complete unity, not just the ones who walked with Him but those yet to come 'who will believe in me through their word' (John 17:20). The imagery of Christians unified across centuries and into infinity is powerful, and if we lead by example, the church can heal the divisions in our land."
Mauresa and her husband Jeremiah have been married for over a decade and have two delightful children, Ian and Miriam.
Mauresa is a classically trained pianist and a lover of the arts in general. She has a background in musical theatre and still performs in both community and professional theatre when she can, and is thrilled to direct children’s theatre downtown every summer.
Mauresa recognizes that worshipping is not just singing on a Sunday morning, but should be a lifestyle of reverence, obedience, joy, and thanksgiving to the Lord. That being said, she is honored to lead the people of Mosaic in musical worship every Sunday along with her treasured “family” on the worship team. Mauresa is a strong believer in authenticity and community and couldn’t be more aware that we all need Jesus -- and each other.
Stuart met his beautiful wife Trina his senior year of high school and they have three wonderful daughters, Julie, Jenna, and Jessalyn. Stuart and Rick met over 25 years ago as they were both involved in reaching the youth of Lynchburg with the love of Jesus. Stuart was heavily involved in Straight Street at the time, and used to go out on the streets on the weekend and bring the youth back to the Center to hear the Gospel in a very youth-friendly environment.
FRAME is the name of Mosaic's youth ministry. We believe more than ever that today's adolescents need a Biblical Framework to guide their lives into adulthood. Too many of today's youth are settling for whatever fad comes along, and they are dropping like flies. Stuart believes that today's youth have lost their way, in a large part, because no one is taking the time to not only guide them, but to listen to them.
"I strive to make sure that Frame is a safe place where youth feel loved and understood. We have an open discussion format, one that engages and stimulates young people to share what's on their hearts and minds. Our end goal is to show them that Jesus understands them and loves them!"
Stuart has an interesting ice-breaker as soon as you meet him - he gave up wearing shoes about 5 years ago. He is also a HUGE Green Bay Packers fan! That actually concerns us more than the shoe thing!
Hannah and Ben have been married for 10 years—and best friends for much longer. Hannah has been teaching in children's ministry the last 8 years, and considers it an honor. One of her favorite things is to see a child's eyes light up when they 'get it"; knowing she's played a role in that. When not busy homeschooling or exploring the outdoors with her own two awesome youngsters, Jack and Eliza, she may be found dancing, reading Jane Austen, or enjoying some Thai with her husband. Her life verse is Psalm 37:4 "Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart."
