Words from Pastor Rick:
We want the students at Frame to realize that God has an incredible plan for their lives and it starts now! We want them to have a real faith that was born out of debate, discussion, disagreement, and dying to “I.” We want them to be placed in situations of unfairness, poverty, and uncertainty. We want them to have a Christian worldview that’s bigger than the Bible belt.
In short, we want the David’s and the Mary’s and the Daniel’s, and the Joseph’s and the Gideon’s and the Timothy’s to stand up and say “here I am Lord, use me; I dare you!”
Right now in America we are not only seeing a disturbing trend among non-Christian youth, there is an even bigger problem among “Christian” youth.
The problem: Over 87% of them are leaving the Church upon high school graduation.
Most of these students attended youth group on a regular basis, hit a summer camp or two, attended a few Christian concerts, a winter retreat, a short term missions trip, and most even made some sort of spiritual commitment to Jesus Christ along the way. Why then, do the vast majority of them totally turn their back on the local church, and unfortunately, even God as they depart high school?
There are a lot of experts out there who are giving their reasons why, but after 25 years of youth work I feel it really does boil down to 2-3 reasons. (more...)
